Front-End Developer


 

We’re on the hunt for a bright part-time Front-End Developer who is excited about building awesome interfaces for forward-thinking clients. Front-end developers at S+W specialize in the critical role of marrying our core strengths: strategy, design and development. You’ll always have a variety of projects to work on, and your skills and creativity will be pushed to the limit. Web design and development aren't just things we can do, they're our focus and passion.

This role is 100% remote, but we are looking for someone who is US-based and has worked remotely, either currently or in the past, and knows the benefits and the challenges. East Coast preferred or available during typical East Coast business hours. Bonus points if you’re local to the Hampton Roads, VA area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with designers and developers to craft online experiences

  • Communicate and collaborate with both technical or non-technical team members

  • Contribute to and help manage our existing codebases

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well organized code

Required Qualifications

  • Skilled in front-end web development via HTML, CSS and Javascript

  • Skilled in using CSS pre-processors (SASS, LESS)

  • Confidence breaking down a Photoshop, Sketch or Figma design, extracting assets, and building front-end interfaces that come alive

  • Keen eye for details, such as the difference between font weights and spacial relationships between elements

  • Competence within version control systems (GIT)

  • Familiarity with Javascript frameworks and libraries such as Alpine, Vue, etc.

  • Familiarity with CSS tools/frameworks such as Tailwind, Bootstrap and Foundation

  • Knowledge of web standards, responsive design and cross-browser compatibility

  • Self-motivating, self-directing and a good communicator

  • Effective time management when working on multiple projects

  • Confident communicating tasking estimation and progress regularly to a project manager

Nice to Haves

  • Experience using Craft CMS building complete solutions, using plugins and developing plugins when necessary

  • Experience using Craft Commerce building e-commerce solutions

  • Experience using ExpressionEngine 2/3/4/5+ building complete solutions and maintaining current ones

  • Experience using Shopify building and/or editing themes and managing stores

  • Agency or client-focused web experience

  • Familiarity with back-end languages

  • Experience with wire-framing, prototyping and rapid iterations

  • Design experience

At this time, we're looking for someone with at least 15-20 hours of availability each week to get the ball rolling and see how well we work together. You will have the choice of joining our team as an employee, or collaborating as a contractor.
